We all love pasta to no limits, and that reflects in the way our faces light up whenever we hear the name. And this is when we are grown-ups. Children have a different kind of delight for pasta as it speaks to them on a different level. But as a parent, we are often skeptical about serving our kids pasta. While it is a really healthy food item, it is often seen as something that should not be given too much of, especially to children.

However, the real concern is not with children, but with toddlers. Parents of young children are often worried about what to give their children and ‘is it the right time to start giving this to my child?’ If this concern is something that you have around pasta, here is what you need to know.

Age you can Start Giving Pasta
Usually, doctors advise that you may start giving your child solid foods at the age of 6 months, so that is the right age that you can start. However, as parents, it is understandable that you may want to wait, and thus, can wait till your child is a year old.

Iron-Rich Pasta
The best thing that you can do for a child who loves pasta in their growth years is to make sure that the pasta you are feeding them is enriched with Iron and is made up of whole grain. You can now buy whole wheat pasta online in India, which is great considering you have a newborn and can’t go out shopping much. Iron is an important building block for our bodies, while the fibre in whole grain pasta is essential for digestion.

Cooking Pasta
Because babies are still learning to chew their food properly, sometimes without teeth, it is important that while your pasta still encapsulates the taste, it is soft enough for a baby. Cooking the pasta for a couple of extra minutes can do the trick for you.

Dressing the Pasta
Kids in their growing years need as much energy as they can get from their food, so if you wish, you can drizzle your tod’s pasta with some source of fat like a plant-based oil, butter, or cream cheese. In fact, a great marinara sauce will help make things tasty and absorb the iron for better distribution in the body.
Pasta is amazing and your children should know that in their growing years. Don’t be shy and start feeding your children pasta as soon as you put them on a solid diet.
